Day 15, July 12th: Last night we got to sleep in the top floor apartment. In the morning, Robert joined us to catch some sun out on the balcony. Peter made his way up as well and we had a grading party. Peter is a business professor and was overwhelmed with the amount of papers he had to grade so we helped. No worries, everything was in English and it was just multiple choice. We finished in no time, it wasn't a hassle at all, although, Peter was very appreciative and invited us out to lunch on him. We went to a nice Vietnamese restaurant down the street for lunch. We got ourselves some food and tea, LOTS of tea. It was a miscommunication and the waiter brought four pots of tea, one for each of us. French service is interesting, you never know what you'll have to specify. After the meal we took the bus to the Tuileries Garden, right across from the Louvre. The garden was beautiful, and conveniently there was a carnival going on! Yes! So, Maddie just had to go on the Ferris wheel, Ali opted out and had a peaceful moment at the pond nearby where kids were playing with little boats. Once Maddie was finished, we walked through the carnival and grabbed our selves some slushies. They had so many different flavors! Then we continued our walk through the garden enjoying our sunny afternoon, finding even more ponds to relax by and watch the adorable little ducklings. We tried to visit L'Orangerie but it was closed, whoops, should've checked on that before hand. So instead, we went to W.H. Smith book store, a British bookstore with books in English, and checked out some books. We then strolled down along the store fronts and stumbled upon Angelina's accidentally. We stopped in and had some super rich hot cocoa and delicious macaroons. Ali was put into a sugar induced coma afterwards and so we made our way home slowly. After getting off the bus we were caught in some spontaneous rain, luckily we'd brought along our rain jackets. Oregon weather has taught us well.

ReplyDeleteSitting in his hand "it was like a seat"
DeleteAngelina's!!! That chocolate could kill you.... but oh so good. I can relate to Ali's sugar high. Guess we should have warned you to order only one serving of hot chocolate with two cups and two hot milks. Oh well, you only live once. Did you notice Coco Channel's favorite table in Angelina's? She visited daily for her favorite cup of tea. Sorry, you missed the L'Orangerie. Next time. Have you checked out your ACIS hotels and their neighborhoods? You can be the resident experts for your classmates when they arrive.
