Day 17, July 14th: Today is my Birthday! It was a very very long day, starting at 1 in the morning, calling Mom, Sami, Connor, and Dad. Then I got some beauty sleep for the big day. Ali and I were to meet uncle Robert, uncle Peter at their apartment at 11 so we could all go out to breakfast with Stephan. We went upstairs to the apartment only to ring with no answer. Eventually Stephan joined us in the hall, he rang, still no answer. So the three of us are just waiting in the hall when Stephan decides to call them. Yeah, so they were just asleep in the room the whole time. They'd just completely canceled out all outside noise! Silly boys. Anyways, we sat and had some tea while we waited for them to get ready. Then we all went to Angelina's in the Luxembourg gardens, all five of us got Eggs Benedict! They were absolutely amazing, and came with their own pitchers of hollandaise. I of course used all of it. After the eggs benedict, we had some dessert for breakfast, a Mont Blanc (Angelina's specialty meringue) and some more rich hot cocoa, but better this time because we got some milk to tone it down with. After Breakfast, we walked over to Church of Saint Sulpice, where some of the Da Vinci Code was filmed. After that, we went shopping! I got a gorgeous dress that I would be wearing later that night, a cute winter coat, and an adorable tee with kitties on it. After shopping to our hearts delight, Ali and I returned home still feeling a bit sluggish from our breakfast, so we did some birthday work-outs! The core of the workout consisted mainly of giggles though. We both showered after our workout and got all dolled up for dinner and the fire work show. After all, it's not only my birthday today it's also Bastille day, France's Independence day. We went out to dinner at a delicious place on Rue Mouffetard, where I got the juiciest cut of pork with some garlic green beans and buttery potatoes. It was to die for! Then we got a driver to take us closer to the Eiffel Tower. We ended up at a cute little café that had a great view of the Eiffel Tower, but was still a nice distance away from the intimidating masses. The Fireworks show was amazing, I absolutely loved it. Although as much as I loved it, Robert may have loved it more. He was oohing and ahhing throughout the whole show, it was a hilarious touch to the great day. Once the show was over we headed toward the Metro and soon found out that that would be practically impossible for the four of us, everyone else was already packed in like sardines. So we walked in the streets for a while, now surrounded by people. More people than I have ever seen in one place, the streets were filled. We ended up checking out a mini smart car that fit four, cause you can just check out a car right off the street here in Paris. Robert drove us home and I almost had a heart attack. Driving in Paris is insane, and even more so with all the people everywhere! But we made it home without any incidents, guess he's the right amount of crazy for Paris. Once arriving at home, Ali and I both passed out after the very long, very exciting day. Truly an amazing birthday.
