We started out our day by going up to Robert and Peter's and enjoying a cup of tea and touring rue Mouffetard. In the neighborhood we saw street performances by Parisian activists and interactive singing and dancing. We enjoyed fresh pastries on the walk, and also saw Ernest Hemingway's Paris apartment. Then we went back to the apartment and enjoyed a lunch of fresh rotisserie chicken and potatoes that Robert and Peter bought at the market that morning. Next, we set out on our way to the Centre Pompidou. On the way, we passed the Notre Dame and all of the church boys were dressed in white with candles and incense, ready for the first of Sunday occasion. In the courtyard in front of the Notre Dame we found the marking for point zero of Paris on the ground, so going with tradition, we both made wishes on it. The line to get in Pompidou was very long, but that was because today is the first Sunday in the month, therefore admission was free! Cool! We went up the tubed escalators, taking in beautiful views of the city. We rode to the very top where we saw exhibitions on the Beat Generation and Paul Klee. Ali really enjoyed the Beat exhibition, while Maddie was experiencing her first real introduction to modern art and wasn't quite sure how to feel about it. Then we had milkshakes at the rooftop restaurant, Georges, which had a beautiful view of the rooftops of Paris where we could see our neighborhood(perfect for selfies), good music, fun atmosphere, and pricey items, hence only being able to afford milkshakes. After, we went to view the permanent collections on the following 2 floors below, toured the gift shop, then headed home. We were both very very very very tired. We grabbed some crepes to give us energy on the rainy walk home, the long walks are slowly but surely adding up, so the plan is to rest up and sleep a lot tonight!
