July 6th, Day 9: Today we pretty seamlessly navigated the RER and metro for the first time (thanks to Robert's directions). We took the RER to the Notre Dame stop, then from there we transferred to the Metro where we rode it until we got to the Eiffel Tower stop. After resurfacing we found our way to the Trocadéro, a great place for viewing the Eiffel Tower. On our way there though, Maddie walked arm in arm with a clown, but was shortly reunited with Ali. From the Trocadéro we saw the beautiful and ginormous Eiffel Tower, and since France is hosting the Euro2016 soccer/football championship, they have a huge soccer ball suspended above the first level. At the Trocadéro we both grabbed some sustenance, Ali got a beignet and Maddie got a ham and cheese crêpe and we both enjoyed it out in the park with a great view of the Eiffel tower and of some adorable children feeding the birds click here. Then we trekked over to the triumphant Arc de Triomphe and made our way to the top where we could see all of the roads leading straight towards us. The view was breath taking, we felt like we could see all of Paris, including our apartments! After we'd gotten our fill we marched down the Champs Elysées, feeling quite fashionable. We stopped in to lots of stores, including Jeff de Bruges' ice cream shop and got strawberry vanilla swirl cones, Sephora where we got to do a mini class in the store of how to do a matte lip, and Citroën C42 a luxury car store which also has a giant slide that Maddie went down. After walking up and down the Champs Elysées we made it back to the metro station where along our way we caught a hilarious street performance. Then, slowly but surely, we made our way back home where we enjoyed a gourmet Picard dinner and dessert. Our day was a very sweet one for sure.

ReplyDeleteWow! That slide was way longer than I thought it would be. Oh, and your lips are mwah 😘
ReplyDeleteI love the red lips...yes, very Parisian!! The dresses are chic but I can see they are tight!! Good for a photo at least. I haven't seen Stephane for years! Please say hello from me when you next see him. He's a very 18th c man.... I'm so happy to see you two are branching out into some of the iconic Paris neighborhoods. Jewish quarter is interesting and has much history. Have you found any great prices on L'Occitaine products? I love their hand cream in a tube.
ReplyDeleteWe need a Picard in Salem!! Tell Robert and Peter it could be their new profession. I would never cook again!
