BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEEEP!

July 2nd, Day 5: So our day started not so pleasantly, actually rather unpleasantly as we were both rudely awoken by a stupid truck who honked his horn non-stop for a solid 30 minutes.  This guy had gotten stuck on our tiny street and instead of putting his car in reverse to leave, he just honked his horn until the people with their cars parked on the side of the rode came out to move them, which they didn't. What kind of problem solving skills are those, and at 7am!?!?! Really man, really? Well eventually it stopped and we were able to catch up on some much needed Z's till about noon. We began our long days trek from our apartments in the 5th arrondissement to the 7th where we explored Le Bon Marche, the first ever modern department store, which currently houses some of the most expensive and luxurious stores. We window shopped and drooled at all the beauty around us. Once we finally came to terms with how poor we were we decided to leave and view even more expensive arts at Le Museé D'Orsay. Once we arrived though our hunger for food was greater than our hunger for the arts, we picked a quaint little café across the street and enjoyed our first crêpes. After our bellies were full, we crossed the street to the D'Orsay and gazed at art like children in a candy store until the museum closed at 6pm. Afterwards, we were hopeful to explore Les Invalides, but it too was closed. Everything closes so early here! We ended up just wandering down Pont Alexandre III towards the beautiful Grand Palais. On our way we saw many adorable just-married couples getting their photos taken, understandably, the view was gorgeous with the Eiffel tower just off in the distance. We then decided to begin our long trek back home. When it started to sprinkle, we stopped in at a few stores and got sucked into the sales at H&M where we stayed until the kicked us out at 9 because they were closing. But no worries, we both were able to stock up on some new Parisian attire. Ooh la! After finally making it home, we enjoyed a delicious Picard sponsored meal with Robert and Peter, mmm. We are now very tired from our early/rude awakening and our long day of walking, so we will be sleeping well tonight! Bon Nuit et faites de beau rêver! (Goodnight and sweet dreams)

  1. One of my favorite museums!! Don't forget to visit the Musee de l'Orangerie in the Jardin des Tuileries near Place de la Concorde for more Monet and his water lilies.

    1. We definitely will! Thanks for the reminder. With everything we have planned, it's so easy to let things slip.
